What is UX design

The UX Design

The UX design, what actually UX is. If we ask this question from five persons the answer will be different. So in this short article we will not only cover what UX is but also will try to findout more rather then of your UX job.

UX
UX stands for User experience and that refer to when, where, why, what and how user uses a product and who is that person. So this actually covers the UX of any product and is everything that effects the interaction of the user with the product.

UX Designer
If we talk about WHO IS UX DESIGNER so we are referring to the person who designs the interaction we discussed above. They ask lots of questions to make the product perfect. So if you are a person who naturally questions a lot so UX could be your best career :), because UX is the answer to all the questions that compiles and give a shape to product.

As UX designer you also need to jump into the business logic, business needs of the product you are working for, so if you make a nice product that people love and use but it doesnot help to achieve the actual business goal so that product is of no use. So as UX expert you have to design a product where User needs and Business needsoverlaps.

To give the solution of all these needs an UX expert need to follow User centered design process.

Why care for UX Design?
We will discuss some of the points regarding UX and ofcource some of the points you guys are already following and by following this you can add more perfection to your product and interaction process.

What is UCDP ( User Centered Design Process)
This process includes the measure and the analysis of the human and their behavious like the product we are workinhg on who will use it how we can make the product better in a way that user can use it easily and better way.

UX is not Rocket Science
UX is not a difficult science anyone who can have creative mind can think about the user needs purpose and login he can easily do wireframing and can write sanerios.  In simple words it is very straight farward thing. As Steve kurg the writer of “Don’t make me think” one of the best book for UX designers says: “the UX is not a rocket surgery”

UX is fun
The field of UX is Challenging, intersting and rewarding. It has low barrier entry and pays you well. Often people feel hesitate to call themself designer as they are not good in pick font type, color etc etc so the UX is the filed that is behind the visuals. This is not important that UX experts are very good designers but they can very good in other important areas of the product.

So if you are listning terms like usability specialists, user interface designer or interaction designer these are roles are under the roff of UX.

Basic rules for User interface design guideline.

Basic rules for User interface design guideline.

Here we will discuss some rules of UX taken from Nielsen and Molich's User Interface Guidelines that will help ur upcoming projects

Design always should be according to the user’s need, expectation and requirement. If your system / app doesn't fulfil the user’s requirement no matter how pretty is your product is user will never use it.

We will discuss some of the important and basic rules to follow to create creative UX flow taken from Nielsen and Molich's User Interface Guidelines.

Visibility, Simplicity and Clarity of system
User should always informed by displaying easy and simple visible status for the certain amount of time.

Sync between your system and the real time world/user
UX experts should always take care of the user expectations and function/usage component expectations derived from real world experiences this will make system easier to the user to use

Apply Consistency and the standard
As UX expert you should ensure that all the graphical elements and the terminologies are properly maintained on same/similar plateform. Like if you use an icon that is representing to edit that should always use for the same purpose through out the system/other screens

Try to prevent error
This is your responsibility to ensure that errors should kept to the minimum. If there come need to error user should not feel he face error in your system. Handle smartly.

Focus on recoganization then recalling
Users come spend seconds on the site/system and if they don't find their requirement in seconds they go off. User attention is so limited and can maintain five items in our short memory at a time aswell. So try to show the Worthy content to user.

Efficient and Flaxibility in use

As demand of the usage increased the system should be efficient, flexible and intelligent enough and we can achieve this by using hidden commands , function keys,  abbreviations and macro facilities, so that user can customize and tailor the interface as per requirements so that frequent actions can be performed easily and fastly

Minimalistic and Aesthetic design
As UX expert always keep in mind that the layout / design should be minimalistic, there should’nt be any un necessary content information that disturb the user. So only necessary components for the related task / requirements should be displayed so that user can get the require information more conveniently.

Helping users to recoganise and recover from errors
Ideally as UX expert we want user to use our system without any documentation means the system should be smart and easy enough that user can use it without any guidance but in some cases we need some documentation depends upon the type of the solution. So whenever user require help make sure that would be easily accessible that could be help file, live chat, FAQs that can guide user step by step and properly

So in short whenever you think of design and start to create a great user experience for some system always think and focus on Usability, Utility and ofcource Desirability.
